I have worked with Geoff for my project of diorama ” The Pathfinders, the Hand and the Trees”. Geoff has been very cooperative and quick at recording the different version of voices I needed for my project. With subtlety and cleverness, he understood the character of the crow he had to incarnate. I would highly recommend working with Geoff as both his voice and his mind are amazing.

Geoff opened up a world within the voice that I never knew existed. From the time in 1994/5 when we both took part in Rudolf Steiner’s fourth mystery drama “The Soul’s Awakening” with Portal Productions I have highly valued Geoff’s abilities as a speech-tutor and coach. He has a fine ear and sense for the lawfulness and artistry of Speech and Language and has an ability to lead the individual through their inadequacies to an attainment and understanding of these lawfulness’s whilst leaving them free and empowered. My work with Geoffrey has increased my awareness of how to enliven the Word. He is very skilful in translating his vast knowledge and experience into language and gesture so that I, a Chekhov-based artist, can understand. Geoff’s broad background in performing arts and multiple pedagogies, including Michael Chekhov, allows him to reveal concepts from various points of view so he can cross reference in my language, making it easier for me to grasp the principles he is sharing. Working with Geoff has allowed me to make significant progress toward attaining my goals, both as teacher and as an artist. I am an actor and director with over 50 years’ experience in the industry. My particular expertise is Shakespeare and classical theatre.
Our first contact was over 2 years ago when Geoff attended one of my workshops in London after having communicated via Facebook for some time.
His open nature and willingness to accept different points of view meant that we found common ground immediately.
Since then, we have worked on several projects together and I invited him to direct my production “Shakespeare Unbound Online”. This production will write a new standard for online performances; and Geoff’s vision is exceptional as we work together creating a new art form.

To work with Geoffrey Norris is very dynamic, rich, and playful, and I very much enjoy it! With Geoffrey it is possible to work in almost every language as he is very sensitive to the qualities of different languages and to the inner gestures of the spoken word. We are working in French and as a eurythmy student I am very amazed at Geoffrey’s love and deep understanding of eurythmy, which
I find to be quite unique, and through his insights into the spoken word be it lyric, dramatic or story I am discovering new things in eurythmy as well!

Everyone has a voice and knows how to speak but work with Geoff has helped me to find the real characteristic of my own individual voice and to experience its deeper meaningful expression.
During the process I met my old habits, not only from a personal but also cultural perspective, my mother tongue being Chinese. In Chinese there are certain rules to make the punctuation fit with the rhythm and my habit was to speak as if the punctuation was always a stop. In addition, the four language tones often lead to a stop in the middle of a sentence thus breaking the flow of the image or thought. Geoff helped me to break these habits and to find the true fluency and musicality of the Chinese language. This awareness has also carried on into my daily speech, and I am very thankful to have had the chance of working with Geoff on both ancient and modern Chinese poetry, and it has deepened my relationship to my own language and allowed me to meet my true self.

Geoffrey has an instinctive sense for language and a deep knowledge of art and of eurythmy.
Even after only a few classes with him I have been led to a deeper understanding of my mother tongue, Korean, and of my main art, eurythmy. He makes work on poetry and storytelling both enjoyable and artistic and is very clear as to the lawfulness’s of the work. I am really enjoying working on my Korean poem with him. Many thanks!”

Speech not only communicates information but also reveals the speaker’s essence, their inner self, and their relationship to the “Word” in body, soul, and spirit. Is it abstract and merely head bound or is it experiential and whole? Geoff’s rich experience and fine sensitive ear makes him a true sculptor and musician in the realm of speech. He leads one to grasp how the two qualities of form and musicality work in harmony bringing about an experiential incarnation, a sense of wholeness, and of healing, making the spoken word creative and truly Human.

Working with Geoff was both a challenge and a joy for me. He is an inspiring teacher and has a real passion for speech and language. Geoff has many years of experience, an excellent sense of language rhythm, as well having a good and exacting ear and a sense of humors. He leads his students to perceive every spoken word, its syllables, its rhythm, its melody and sound/sense gesture making them experiential and not abstract. I am very grateful for him helping me to understand the beauty, rhythm, and musicality of my mother tongue Slovak .

Geoff pushed me and pulled me to a deeper understanding of all elements of the art of creative speech and performance. His training caused me to expand my knowledge and test the boundaries of my comfort zone in a way that ultimately contributed to my being able to secure a Goethean recognized Steiner Speech diploma. He has generously given of his time as we have continued to work together in a way that deepens my understanding of Anthroposophy and Creative Speech.

I have found Geoff to be a deeply generous and masterful teacher of Speech, ever willing to inspire and encourage others with his deep love for the Word. He is always asking questions, receiving new thoughts, refining his insights, and developing his capacity to hear and demonstrate the lawfulness and livingness of Steiner’s Creative Speech. He can flesh out an idea with an excerpt from an astonishingly vast repertoire of great poems and dramas that he holds within him, in a way that bring crystal clarity to the subtlest nuances of shaping, sounding and dynamic.
